I first started using trans.el and trans because I could
not get edict.el to work. However, after I installed
edict.el I decided to make it my main dictionary system
within mule.
trans and trans.el are slower than edict.el even without
the lisp byte compilation of edict.el.
trans.el calls the trans program which is written in Perl.
This means that the trans program must first load the Perl
program then load the entire edict dictionary into ram.
As can be seen in the example screen below, edict.el gives words
that are part of other words. This gives a more accurate meaning
of the word if the user scans the possible combinations and
gets the correct meaning from the context of the document.
